2006 World AIDS Day Luncheon

Dear Friends,

On Friday, December 1, 2006, Multifaith Works will hold its Third Annual World AIDS Day luncheon, Saving Lives, Changing Lives, at noon at the Westin Hotel in Seattle.

This is an opportunity for the wider community to gather to remember those who have died and to recommit ourselves to the fight against HIV and AIDS. In the past twenty-five years, over 20 million people have died from this disease. Today over 40 million people are living with HIV/AIDS worldwide. This number continues to increase in every region every day. In King County alone, an estimated 8,400 people are living with HIV/AIDS. This number is 30% higher than four years ago. The disease is spreading fastest among women of color and those between 15 and 24 years of age.

Although vast improvements have been made in medical treatment, cultural awareness and education, many people are still living and dying in isolation. In the face of this growing epidemic and its continuing challenges, Multifaith Works is here to help. Multifaith Works builds a community of compassion by providing housing and emotional support to those who struggle with this disease and the isolation and fear that it brings.

We invite you to join us on World AIDS Day to remember and recommit yourself to the fight against AIDS. Effective Arts and Jim Boggs will present several live presentations, showing how Multifaith Housing, Shanti volunteers and AIDS CareTeams make a difference. No donation is requested prior to the event. To register please visit click here or contact Gary Southerton at 206.324.1520 ext 229 or gary@multifaith.org

Sincerely yours,

Arthur G. Padilla
