We are pleased to welcome
Jessica Nelson to the Multifaith Works staff as the Shanti Program Coordinator.
For the past year and a half Jessica has served as a Shanti volunteer, providing
excellent on-going emotional support to her client and also to her volunteer
small group.
Before coming to Shanti,
Jessica spent two years in Paraguay, working with women and children who are
struggling against poverty and injustice. She has said that accompanying others
in solidarity is the most challenging and fulfilling experience that exists for
her. Before her years in South America, she was involved in various
multicultural groups, struggling together against racism, classism, homophobia,
sexism, and prejudice based on age, ability, and illness. More recently,
Jessica has been working as a teacher and administrator at El Centro de la Raza.
Jessica brings to her new
role with Shanti an energy and a passionate commitment to improve the quality of
life of those she serves. We feel extremely fortunate to have her join us.
