A Note From the
Executive Director
Another beautiful summer has
crept up on us. Often I am surprised by how quickly time moves. With that
movement comes a changing of the guards and Multifaith is no different. I want
to take this opportunity to say good-bye to two Multifaith staff members as
they embark on new endeavors Inside this edition you will find goodbye notes
from both of them and I want to add to their voices by letting them both know
how much they will be missed.
Gary Southerton, the
Development Director, has been with Multifaith for three years and has moved the
agency with regard to fundraising into a strong and solid position. As I
considered taking thee position of Executive Director in 2005, Gary was one of
the main reasons that I decided to move to Seattle and participate in this
adventure. He has brought structure, systems, and innovation to this agency and
the results of his work will resonate throughout the lives of our clients and
volunteers for many years. I wish him the best in his new adventures!
Rhonda Mellinger, the Shanti
Program Coordinator, will also be leaving at the end of this month. I met
Rhonda and immediately understood that she was a person that I could depend on
and trust; that knowing was intuitive and immediate. I have come to respect and
value Rhonda is so many ways and seeing her leave is a very bittersweet
experience. I also wish her the best of luck in her journey.
Please look inside to learn
about the new staff and again read in Gary and Rhonda’s own words their
departing notes to you. Goodbyes and welcoming, change and growth, and
transition and learning are all part of the Multifaith experience and we are
fully immersed in it right now. Also, please be sure to read Brian’s letter
detailing the festivities that will be happening at the Annual Multifaith Works
Volunteer Appreciation Picnic. This year’s special event will be held out our
new office and we hope to see you there.
